The hunt is on for Darwin's best mango drink

The temperature is rising, the rain is coming, and mangoes are ripening, which signals the

highly anticipated return of the Darwin Mango Cup. After the success of the inaugural Mango Cup in 2020, Darwinians again have the coveted responsibility of discovering and voting on which mango drink they deem to be this year’s best. Did someone say, ‘World’s Best Job’?

The Northern Territory Government through Activate Darwin is partnering with Hospitality NT to invite Darwin’s hospitality venues to concoct a lush Mango-centric drink where each thirst-quenching sip encapsulates the Territory’s character and reminds locals and visitors why our mangoes are simply the best. An entry drink can be a cocktail, mocktail, beer, seltzer, smoothie, juice, and everything else in between.

From the 18th October to 7th November, voters will be able to visit up to 30 venues spanning Marrakai, Berry Springs, Fannie Bay, Winnellie, Tiwi, Palmerston, Berrimah and many more. And there’s something to try for all the family with some venues submitting non-alcoholic mango delights.

Voters will choose their top five favourite drinks and submit their choices through the Mango Cup Website before midnight on Sunday 7th November. Alongside the delicious notes of ripe mango, each recipe is accompanied with a personal backstory that led to its creation. Not only will voters be tasked with judging taste and presentation, but they will also be asked to relate to the sentimental value of the drink.

"Mangoes are synonymous with relaxed tropical fun and are a totem for our great territory lifestyle.

"From Tree to Table, the Mango Cup celebrates what's great about the Top End at this time of year,” said Alex Bruce, Chief Executive Officer, Hospitality NT

The list of participating venues for 2021 is an exciting diverse group of our local leading hospitality venues including Charlie’s of Darwin, One Mile Brewery, Berry Springs Tavern, Willing Distillery, Phat Mango, and many, many more. You can find a full list of participating venues below.

After the public voting is completed, the top five drinks will be presented to a panel of judges at the Mango Madness Festival. Last year Dom’s Bar was crowned winner of the inaugural 2020 Cup with their delectable Territory-tini. Will Dom’s remain supreme for another year, or will the crown be snatched by another venue?
